Volico Opens Brand New, State-of-the-Art Tier IV Data Center in Broward County, Florida

Volico, leading provider of managed hosting, colocation and cloud computing services, opens its most advanced facility for data hosting and enterprise data management for businesses, individuals and government agencies.

Fort Lauderdale – Friday, April 4, 2014 – Volico, a leading provider of Managed Hosting, Colocation, and Cloud Computing services, has proudly opened its newest 12,000 sq. ft. Tier IV data center in Broward County, Florida. This facility marks the company’s second wholly-owned South Florida colocation facility serving the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach county data center market. Volico’s new colocation data center provides the highest level of redundancy and flexibility. The South Florida colocation facility contains: an unprecedented 2N+X redundant UPS Smart-Grid infrastructure and a 2N+X redundant generator Smart-Grid Paralleling Technology.

Unlike traditional data centers utilizing multiple generators working towards individually geared loads lacking the ability to parallel more than two (2) units. The new Smart-Grid Paralleling Technologies allow Volico to use multiple floating generators. This high-performance backup system is a protected power-grid with XN+Y capabilities. “We geared this new colocation facility specifically to meet the highest Tier IV Data Center Availability Standards – that means strong backup systems, minimal carbon footprint, and the most technologically advanced engineering methods to date,” stated Scott Cohen, Senior Data Center Engineer of Volico.

These engineering methods allow Volico to provide emergency power greenly. This unique ability to balance energy load as necessary for fuel conservation means that Volico leaves a minimal carbon footprint. Security is also a major focus of Volico’s newest facility. “We set the industry standard with the most advanced 7-point military-grade access available.”

Volico sets the industry standard with the most advanced 7-point military-grade access control security protocols. Security protocols include: multiple Man-Traps, Fingerprint Biometrics, Key Combinations, and Facial Recognition. In addition to focusing on security, Volico’s new data center features resilience, redundancy, and Carrier-Neutral connectivity. Volico also offers eoMPLS redundant cross-connectivity transport to Terremark’s 160 plus providers over Volico’s redundant and diversified private MPLS ring.

Utilizing Emerson Liebert Computer Room Air-Conditioning (CRAC) units, Volico engineered its colocation facility to handle 300-watt/sq. ft. of 2N+X redundant cooling. This is a predictive measure to handle future advancements in technology: the high-density computing applications of tomorrow. The initial phase of the data center is 12,000 sq. ft. with the ability to expand to 140,000 sq. ft. to support customer growth and demand. “This new facility is on-track to be the largest, most secure facility in Broward County, Florida,” said Mr. Cohen. Located outside of the 500-year FEMA floodplain, Volico’s newly constructed facility is also category 5 hurricane resistant, which makes it able to withstand the most treacherous storms and floods in South Florida.
